What is a masterbatch?

Its appearance is in the form of granular granules or pellets, and a two-screw extruder is used to produce it.

Masterbatch is composed of a combination of three types of materials: base polymer – additive – compatible agent that paint powder and mineral powders are combined with additives during the melt process to thermoplastic.

“Polymer base” or thermoplastic base is made of polyethylene – polystyrene – ethylene vinyl acetate – alkyd polymer

PET-based masterbatches are used in oil, soda, and water bottles.

Masterbatches based on polypropylene and polyethylene are used as CONTACT food for doors

Masterbatch based on PMMA and PC is used to produce various types of transparent sheets and car headlights

Masterbatch based on PC-ABS-PPM is used in the automotive industry
Additives are often pigments and fillers.
Compatible agents »For dispersion of additives and paints, they combine it with a compatible molten polymer, for example, polypropylene-ABS-polyethylene.

Masterbatch Types

There are two general categories of color masterbatch and additive masterbatch:
Lubricating masterbatch: so that plastic films can be easily separated in the packaging process
Anti-block masterbatch: Used to reduce the adhesion of polymer films to each other
Optical illuminator or PE gloss masterbatch: Used to remove opacity and better light transmission in plastic products.
Antioxidant masterbatch: Used to protect against oxidation.

UV stabilizing masterbatch: to prevent fading when exposed to the sun
Anti-wear masterpiece: made of silicone based on polyethylene to increase abrasion resistance
Color / white and black masterbatch: has a high percentage of colors and a low percentage of polymer that gives color to plastics. Transparent masterbatch for producing all kinds of disposable glass colored containers

Filler masterbatch: Made of calcium carbonate – mica and reduces the price.
