Polystyrene

Polystyrene is produced in a multi-step process. The initial combination of ethylene and benzene leads to the production of ethylbenzene, which is formed by a process called hydrogenation from ethylbenzene to the styrene polymer group. Then another process in the presence of oxygen, oxidizing agent or light as a catalyst is actually a process called free radical polymerization and eventually leads to the production of the final material, polystyrene.
Polystyrene is a hard, brittle and transparent polymer material that transmits more than 90% of ordinary light, which is why it is also called crystal. This polymer group also begins to soften and melt at 90 ° C.
This polymer works very well in terms of electrical current insulation and also has very low moisture absorption properties.
