Due to the compactness of the molecular chain in heavy polyethylene, its density is high and therefore its flexibility is low. Therefore, impact resistance in heavy polyethylenes is lower than lightweight polyethylenes, but its resistance to chemicals as well as brittle environmental stresses is good.
